FeaturesThe Pulsar model 33, while being very powerful, remains a very ‘easy to use’ instrument. It can function both as a Type 1 integrating sound level meter and it is also a real time spectrum analyser in one-third-octave band and octave band, with type 1 filters
Model 33 has one single range, so there is no range control and it measures all it’s functions simultaneously. These functions include everything needed to calculate the basic noise evaluation figures of most of the countries in the world. Basic metrics, include S, F and I functions, Equivalent continuous levels, Percentiles, Impulsiveness indexes, Peak levels, Sound exposure levels, Short Leq functions, etc. The Model 33’s graphic screen, that can be back-lit, gives both graphical and numerical displays of the measured functions. The acquired can be stored and the number of stored functions are fully user configurable.
The Model 33 has both RS-232 and USB ports. The USB port allows you to download quickly all the stored data and the RS-232 port allows you to configure communication ports through modem (BTN or mobile) or wireless. A serial printer can be connected to the RS-232 port to print in real time all functions measured by model 33.
The model 33 preamplifier is detachable, so it can be uncoupled from the meter body by using one of the extension cables and it also allows one of the outdoor kits WK1 or WK2 to be used for measurements in porr weather.
With over 100 metrics measured or calculated at the same time, the model 33 is one of the most capable sound level meters available and with so many potential; applications, a separate data sheet is available listing many of these.
Model 33 can store in its 64 megabyte non-volatile internal memory the values of all the measured functions, so when the unit is switched off, data is not lost and can be retrieved and displayed directly on the screen of the model 33 or transferred to a PC. Model 33 allows the download of the stored data simultaneously with the process of measurement and recording. This characteristic together with the possibility of configuring the free memory space as a circular memory, converts model 33 to an ideal platform for permanent acoustic monitoring, using outdoor kit WK2.
The number of measurements stored depends on the type of recording in use, but if Short Leq is stored, up to 8 months of data are in memory, while if 1:3 octave is the basis, 13 days storage is available

A Type 2 variant of model 33 is available, Type 33-2 with a Type 2 microphone instead of the MK224, all other secification points remaining the same.
Model 33 can be supplied as a ‘stand-alone’ unit in a pouch, but more usually it is supplied as a measurement kit that includes the model 100 calibrator, windshield the RS232 cable and the software, plus operating manuals and spare batteries, all housed in a sturdy valise; it includes everything needed for imediate use.
Options include the two outdoor kits WK1 and WK2 (see separate data sheet) as well as the RT (Reverberation Time) module and an extended freuqnecy package.
